The House Of Love Announce New Album 'State Of Grace'

UK indie/alt rock legends The House Of Love have announced the release of their long-awaited new album 'State Of Grace'.

The follow-up to last year's 8CD box set 'Burn Down The World', which covered their work for Fontana in the early 90s, was recorded at Pett Sounds and mixed by Babe Rainbow’s Warne Livesey, it will be out on September 16th via Cherry Red Records. Pre-order your copy here.

The sequel to 2013’s ‘She Paints Words In Red’, ‘A State Of Grace’ was written and recorded by the band’s lynchpin Guy Chadwick between COVID lockdowns.

Guy says: “It is the best set of songs I have written for years and the pandemic ironically gave me the time and space to develop and arrange the songs.” The album was recorded with a new line-up, originally put together for an American 30th Anniversary tour, now rescheduled for October. In the current line-up, Guy (lead vocals/guitar) is joined by Keith Osborne (lead guitar), Hugo Degenhardt (drums) and Harry Osborne (bass).

‘A State Of Grace’ is an eclectic collection of tracks, from the driving, grungy ‘Clouds’ to the eerie, atmospheric groove of ‘Sweet Loser’, the riffy powerful ballad ‘In My Mind’ and the folksy finale, ‘Just One More Song’. This is the first time the band’s recordings have featured instruments such as harp, pedal and lap steel guitar, banjo and violin, all adding to the unique guitar sounds  The House of Love are known for.

Wylderness Announce New LP 'Big Plans for a Blue World', Stream "Wet Look"

Cardiff/London indie pop/shoegaze band Wylderness have announced the release of their second full-length album 'Big Plans for a Blue World'.

The follow-up to their 2018 self-titled debut album, was recorded and produced with Rory Attwell, and will be out on July 15 through Succulent Recordings. Pre-order your copy here.

Big Plans for a Blue World sees Wylderness return with an expanded line up, incorporating vintage synths and clarinet to their fuzzy, mesmerising wall of sound.

The name of the album was inspired by David Bowie and came to singer Marz in a dream: “I had a vivid dream that I was at a David Bowie concert in the mid 80s. Bowie walked on stage in a crisp blue suit and said ‘this is a new song, it’s called Big Plans for a Blue World’. The song was in the same vein as Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel. Probably not up there with Bowie’s greatest work but it had a catchy chorus. I woke up and wrote it down, and started Googling to see if it was a real song by Bowie but nothing came up. We took it that this was meant to be the name for our new album.”

Check out the album's tracklist and listen to their new single "Wet Look", below.

Watch: Tijuana Panthers Reveal New Single/Video "Slacker"

Long Beach art rock/alt band Tijuana Panthers have revealed the video for their new single "Slacker".

The song is taken from their upcoming sixth studio album 'Halfway to Eighty', which will be out on June 24 via Innovative Leisure. Pre-order your copy here.

Halfway to Eighty is an embrace of much more than just a band. It’s a statement of dedication to the calling of music—to sticking with making art as long as you want to, age be damned. “You know what would make me just go, ‘Oh, let’s just quit,’” says Wachtel, recalling a recent raucous show in Los Angeles, “is if we didn’t have that reception anymore. The fans keep me going.”

“Not to get all spiritual about it,” adds Michicoff, “but when we were younger, we played really hard for nobody, and now the fans do all the work for us. They have the fun and we just kind of rock out, and it’s nice. It’s cool to sit back and play the songs and watch. They’re putting on a show for us.”

Watch: Talk Show Unleash New Single/Video "Cold House"

London post punk/new wave band Talk Show have unleashed the video for their new single "Cold House".

The song is taken from upcoming new EP 'Touch The Ground', also produced by Joe Goddard (Hot Chip) and Al Doyle (Hot Chip/LCD Soundsystem), which will be release on 23rd September via Missing Piece Records. Pre-order your copy here.

The band see Touch The Ground as a celebration of their decisions to be bold: "We thought if we scrap the old stuff, the new stuff better be fucking good otherwise we're fucked,” Harrison says. ”On the final day I remember walking out and thinking that was the most fun I've ever had, and we've absolutely made the right decision and this is the direction we're going in. This is it now, this is where the train is heading and we're not stopping." Now the plan is to continue where they left off from the Hot Chip sessions, pushing for harder, louder, more industrial and dance floor-focussed music. "That's why it's called Touch The Ground. I wanted it to be like when a sprinter is crouching and ready to start a race," Harrison says, "it's the start of something – rooted, but looking upwards".
