Aussie new-wave/80s alt-pop/synth artist Web Rumors (aka Em Burrows) has shared her new single "Northern Service", and its accompanying music video.

Inspired by the sounds of 70s/80s proto synth pop and the repetitive chugging of a train on the tracks, Northern Service features the iconic UK Rail announcements of Celia Drummond (Humphris) formerly of Trees. 

The track is a tribute to her gentle lilting voice which can be heard on trains and platforms throughout the UK. 

“I have always been a huge fan of Celia Humphris as the singer with Trees but never realized she was also responsible for the train announcements in England!” Burrows explains.

Aussie new-wave/80s alt-pop/synth artist Web Rumors (aka Em Burrows) has premiered her new single "Heaven".

This is the first cut from her new album which drops mid-year through Group Therapy Records. 

Inspired by the proto-house and post-disco sounds of early 80s New York and Chicago underground clubs, Heaven aims to capture that heady combination of dance floor euphoria and deep nostalgia.

Australian indie rock/alt-pop band Methyl Ethel have announced the release of their fourth studio album 'Are You Haunted?'.

About the new single Proof (feat. Stella Donnelly) Methyl Ethel's lead singer Jake Webb explains: A lot of the ideas in Proof come from thinking about what we mean when we talk about truth. It’s also a song that was inspired by watching a lot of old European cinema, which I love. We decided to play with some of those themes, the use of black and white throughout is intended to be read in the idiomatic sense, of things being ‘black and white’. Two people are discussing, explaining their version of truth, their Proof.

Working with Stella has been a joy from the start, that sentiment continued when we were making this clip. Who else could I possibly approach to join me in bringing this song to life if not the truth-telling queen herself! The seen and unseen, the art of subterfuge, and the psychoanalytical reading of dreams are all elements that we’ve played with here in what was my absolute favourite video to make so far.

Auckland alt-pop/nu wave band Cut Off Your Hands have premiered the video for their new single "Live For Each Other".

The song is taken from their third and final album 'HLLH', out tomorrow (October 16). Get it here.

Speaking about it, frontman Nick Johnston says: ‘Live For Each Other’ It is about self-consciousness within relationships and avoiding the temptation to put a magnifying glass on those I love.”

“The structure was built originally around a sample of ‘Slippery People’ by Talking Heads and was built from there. This is a reference not only to that band but also to one of the first songs I wrote for Shaky Hands ep ‘Takes Slowly Over’- which began life as a cover of ‘Girlfriend Is Better’ also by Talking Heads. If imitation is indeed the highest form of flattery then I think my tendency to chameleon socially around people I love finds fitting expression in a song that wears its musical references firmly on its sleeve.”

The song is part of our current playlist an is out now via Duchess Box Records.

Sofia releases her debut album Freier Geist in Summer 2020. The album proudly wears its influences of German music from 70s and 80s with inspirations from Ingrid Caven, Hildegard Kneef, Ideal as well as international artist such as Yma Sumac and David Bowie. The album was written by Sofia Portant and her collaborating producer Steffen Kahles at their Berlin studio.
