Watch: FRIGS Share Music Video For "Talking Pictures"

Toronto garage psych/post-punk band FRIGS have shared the video for "Talking Pictures".

The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from their debut album 'Basic Behaviour', which came out in February through Arts and Crafts. Buy your copy here.

The video was directed by Christopher Mills, who said: "The camera seems to be broken in a glitchy, 360 degree virtual space filled with multiple exposures of FRIGS, occasionally, and inadvertently disrupted by glitchy abstract shapes, in this dark, and moody portraiture. For me this song is like what Mazzy Star would play before a street fight. The toughness of this music evokes images of Ponyboy Curtis, with all his friends running around the perimeter of town, looking for trouble. FRIGS were a big part of the editing process on this collaboration and I was honoured by the invitation to work with this music."

From the band: "Talking Pictures relies, not on narrative, but on evoking a sense of disillusionment. We wanted a video that similarly eschewed narrative in order to portray this feeling through distorted perspective, overlapping subjects and a black-and-white pallet."

Watch: FRIGS Share Music Video For "Solid State"

Toronto garage psych/post-punk band FRIGS have shared the video for their latest single "Solid State".

The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from their debut album 'Basic Behaviour', which came out last month through Arts and Crafts. Buy your copy here.

"The video for Solid State acts as a homage to inner dialogues that are common, spanning: gender, age and background,” explains frontwoman Bria Salmena. “While the video was intended to be a darker, more surreal exploration of these themes, the filming process ended up being a typical comforting visit with my grandmother. Exploring her aged house, and enjoying a meal with her. We were able to capture a candid and somber time. The real effect the video has is one of overwhelming nostalgia and self reflection."

New Entry: FRIGS Release New Single "Solid State"

Toronto garage psych/post-punk band FRIGS have released their new single "Solid State".

The song is taken from their upcoming debut full-length album 'Basic Behaviour', which will hit the stores on 23rd February through Arts & Crafts. Pre-order your copy here.

ABout the track, frontwoman Bria Salmena said: "Lyrically, 'Solid State' is a stream-of-consciousness/subconscious conversation with myself, effectively more a confessional than a diary entry. The spoken vocals are stark and unfiltered, as their delivery is meant to be intimate and familiar. The song became a representation of the conversations that occur in your head when you are alone.

FRIGS Announce Debut LP 'Basic Behaviour', Stream New Single "Talking Pictures"

Toronto garage psych/post-punk band FRIGS have announced they will release their debut full-length album 'Basic Behaviour' on 23rd February through Arts & Crafts.

The ten-track album has been self-produced and was written and recorded over a period of 16 months in two locations: the band’s home studio and Toronto’s Union Sound Company.

The band have also shared their new single "Talking Pictures", which lyrically, according to vocalist Bria Salmena“is about the need to be stimulated. It was written during a period where I felt a lack of both external and internal encouragement, preventing me from thinking freely or creatively. Falling into a void of routine, I was distracting myself from real life experiences, and those experiences, once examined, seemed only filtered through interactions with technology and social media. In writing this song, I attempted to explore this void and my distracted state in hopes of losing any numbness I felt in my day-to-day life”.

Pre-order the album here, check out the tracklisting, and have a listen to "Talking Pictures" below.
