Miles Kane To Release New Song Written With Alex Turner

Miles Kane revealed that he has teamed up with Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner to write a new track titled "Get Right" together and that it will be the B-side for a future Kane single.

Speaking to Music Week, Kane said:

“I was in LA with him about a month ago. I’d just been through this break up and was feeling a bit down. We were in this club, messing around with this idea called ‘Get Right’. We recorded it two days later, I brought it home and finished it and I’m putting it on as a B-side for my single. It’s great, man.”

The track will be the first fruits of Kane and Turner’s collaborative talents since The Last Shadow Puppets 2008 debut album ‘The Age Of The Understatement‘.

According to what he said to NME, Kane remains confident that they will eventually write a new LP together once their respective diaries allow it: "I think the plan is to release something again, for sure. Since we did that, Alex Turner has been busy and I had to find my feet with being on my own. If it comes after the end of this cycle and the end of his next record we'll probably be both ready and really up for it. It's just on the sidelines, there's nothing written for it."

Arctic Monkeys Announce New Track 'Electricity'

Following the unexpected release of current single 'R U Mine' last month, Arctic Monkeys have unveiled details for a new track.

The new tune, called 'Electricity', will appear as the b-side to 'R U Mine' and both will be available on limited edition purple vinyl, exclusively as part of this year's Record Store Day on 21 April, 2012.

The band are currently in the middle of a lengthy stint across the USA and Canada and recently, the band's frontman Alex Turner has said that he wants to start writing the band's new album.
He said of this: "I don't try to write on the road. I might try to this time, just for a change. Usually, I get home and I realise it's bad, so I've not done it in the past. We've messed around in soundchecks, but I'm not gonna meet a deadline, and it's not like I need to write, though I want a head start for the next time around."

Alex Turner: Arctic Monkeys Is a 'Bad' Name For a Band

Arctic Monkeys frontman has admitted his band’s name isn’t the best, and has laid the blame squarely at the door of his bandmate Jamie Cook.

“I’ve no idea where it came from” he told. “It was Jamie’s fault, he came up with it and he’s never even told us why. If he even knows, he’s keeping it a secret from me. This is the first band I’ve been in. A lot of people in bands have a few goes at it before they find the one that works but with us, we all started playing guitar and everything at the same time.”

“There might have been other ideas for offshoots at the time, but the Monkeys was the first one. It sound like a first band name, doesn’t it? It’s so bad that the tribute bands don’t sound worse. I saw there’s an Aertex Monkeys, that’s pretty clever.”

Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner: I Don't Mind Being Compared To Oasis At All

Alex Turner has revealed that he doesn't mind that the Arctic Monkeys get compared to Oasis in North America.

The band, who released their anticipated new album 'Suck It And See' this week, said that Oasis were an important band to them growing up.

When asked about whether he minded being compared to Oasis, frontman Alex Turner, told Reuters: ''Not really, I mean, it's like we're both a British rock and roll band, we're kind of bound to get compared to Oasis in other countries."

He added: ''We are both from the North, similar haircut. But musically, it is a little bit different. I mean, we are huge fans of them, growing up and all that, they were a really important band for us. I don't mind being compared to Oasis at all."

He also said that though he believed the band's fourth LP was mellower than their previous efforts, it also contained fast paced songs like those in their early work.

Turner said: "I think it's pretty frantic at times. It has its moments that are a bit more like the chimey guitar thing, like reverberated out that occurs in quite a lot of the songs and I suppose that does give it quite a mellow aspect. I guess probably compared with the first two, it is not as fast and crazy. But it has moments like that."
