Lloyd's House Reveal New Single "Heather"

Glasgow based lo-fi pop aficionado Lloyd's House has revealed his new single single "Heather".

'Heather ‘finds Lloyd's House embracing his best flamboyant pop self with a breathy, hooky track that builds to a crescendo through dreamy harmonies and poignant "oh's" as the singer pines over a lost love.

Recorded by Chris McCrory (Catholic Action) and mastered by Sam Smith (Green Door), ‘Heather’ hits a transition point for Lloyd's House, as he maintains those lo-fi aspects of his shimmering self-titled debut, while introducing more polished pop methods to his process, executing an exuberant track that has the power to entrance as it does have you bopping along.

Lloyd's House is the eccentric pop brainchild of Lloyd Ledingham. After releasing his debut EP We Could Be Friends and self-titled album on Corkscrew Records to critical acclaim, Lloyd’s House continues to develop their sound demonstrating an experimental pop prowess built on melodic bass guitar, soulful drums, heart wrenching synth and lilted yet bittersweet vocals.

Taking influence from artists like Perfume Genius, Alex G and Porches, Lloyd's House has found their niche in Scotland's alt-pop scene, and 'Heather' sees the him pushing further afield with a fully formed live band set to tour the UK in September 2022.

"I've always been into catchy melodies and hooks, but sonically ‘Heather’’s a bit more weird, a bit more crunchy. a lot more impactful. A big part of that is having recorded it with a live band.

"It's probably the most cliche emo thing to write about, but a lot of the themes in the song are wanting someone but knowing that you can't have them. But trying anyway, because it's the only option you have. It's a lot of self pity, trying to find comfort in discomfort. Feeling like it's easier to want someone that you can't have than move on, process it and deal with it.”

New Entry: Pynch Premiere New Single "Disco Lights"

London-based lo-fi/indie foursome Pynch have premiered their new single “Disco Lights”.

The song will be out digitally on November 22 via Speedy Wunderground and on 7" single on 13 December, the B-side is a dub remix by Orla Carey. Grab it here.

Pynch originally started life as a set of demos written and recorded by vocalist/guitarist Spencer Enock in his parents Ramsgate basement taking inspiration from indie stalwarts like LCD Soundsystem, The War On Drugs, The Strokes and Beach Fossils to name a few.

Speedy label boss Dan Carey came across the band when they sent an email containing three demos over to Speedy HQ – the first of which was Disco Lights. ‘I try and listen to everything we get sent,’ says Carey, ‘which is hard because we get sent a Lot. This came through as I woke up early one morning in a hotel in Berlin where I’d been recording with an artist. Disco Lights stood out immediately – and seemed so different to anything we’d done before. I called Pierre (Hall, Speedy co-runner) saying we had to do it, and emailed the band straight away. I loved its pop sensibility – but the demo was really lo-fi. I kept imagining this bigger, more widescreen version of it. In my head I wanted it to be almost like Toy covering Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac.’

The resulting cut puts Carey’s vision into fruition. An immediate sun-drenched pop song with nods to Tame Impala and MGMT whilst maintaining that lo-fi Captured Tracks-esque feel, the production gets bigger and bigger as the track progresses culminating in dreamy synth layers being added and a killer solo to boot.

Of the recording process the band says - 'Hands down the best recording experience we've ever had. It was so much fun working with Dan. He was genuinely excited about the song and had so many creative ideas on how to bring it to life. Everything took shape really quickly and we were blown away by how everything was sounding.'
