Watch: Ride Share Music Video For "Repetition"

British shoegaze pioneers Ride have shared the video for their latest single "Repetition".

The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from their upcoming sixth studio album 'This Is Not A Safe Place', which will be out on August 16. Pre-order your copy here.

Directed by Luke Logan, it focusses on a washing machine as the swirling layers of sound erupt around it. “Directing for the Ride guys has been absolutely awesome, the track has this mechanical, entropic feel, almost like it’s spiraling out of control and I wanted to match that with the video. Despite having to destroy several washing machines in the process, I think we managed to capture the feeling of the track really well...” he says.

New Entry: Ride Premiere New Single "Repetition"

British shoegaze pioneers Ride have premiered their new single "Repetition".

The song is taken from their upcoming sixth studio album 'This Is Not A Safe Place', which will be out on August 16. Pre-order your copy here.

UPDATE 08/07/2019: "Repetition" is our new Single of the Week!

Of the track, Andy Bell said: "I haven’t got tired yet of blasting this track. 'Repetition' is at the absolute heart of “This Is Not A Safe Place". It was one of the very first songs written for the album, and has always felt to me like one of the best songs I’ve written.

"It has a great dual harmony vocal from myself and Mark. Steve came up with the brilliant Juno 6 bassline that starts the song, which he overdubbed on our last day of recording for the album, Loz puts down a monster of a drum track, it’s both very experimental and very pop in approach and that’s what Ride always tried to do in the early days. For me it succeeds in bringing me back to all of the things we were into and talked about when we were 18, but also being of the moment, in 2019.

"I know I am speaking for the whole band, and Erol, when I say we are really proud of this record, and we hope you enjoy it. "

Ride Announce New LP 'This Is Not A Safe Place', Stream "Future Love"

British shoegaze pioneers Ride have announced the release of their sixth studio album 'This Is Not A Safe Place'.

The follow-up to Weather Diaries, will be out on August 16th via Wichita Recordings, and was once again produced by Erol Alkan, and mixed by Alan Moulder with Caesar Edmunds at Assault and Battery in London. Pre-order your copy here.

Gathering influences from sources such as the Jean Michel Basquiat exhibition at the Barbican, and the post punk sound of The Fall and Sonic Youth, Ride have made an album which contains echoes of their earliest days as a band, while bringing these elements into 2019. Both musically and lyrically, this is clearly an album made by a band who love being back together and who are at the very top of their game.
