From Jack Tatum: “There were a number of songs that were kicking when I was finishing Indigo and ‘Blue Wings’ was very nearly included. I had sent the album off to mastering, but the song didn't sit right with me and I decided, at the last possible moment, to leave it off the album. It's intentionally a very bittersweet sounding song. I asked Ben Talmi who did the string arrangements on ‘Shadow’ to help out with this very simple dissonant string part I was hearing in my head which is now my favorite element in the track. It's a song about walking through to the other side of crippling self-doubt with the help of someone you love. It's a reminder to myself not to let things spiral, hard as it may be at times.”

Wild Nothing Announces New LP 'Indigo', Airs New Single "Letting Go"
Tatum's fourth studio album and follow-up to 2016’s ‘Life Of Pause’, will be out on August 31 via Captured Tracks. According to the press release, on one hand, Indigo is a return to the fresh, transcendent sweep of his debut, 2010’s Gemini, and on the other, a culmination of heights reached, paths traveled, and lessons learned while creating the follow-ups, Nocturne and Life of Pause. Indigo finds Tatum at his most efficient, calculated, and confident—resulting in an artful blend of hi-fi humanity and technology that fires on all circuits and synapses.
Jack explains of the album: “I wanted it to sound like a classic studio record, as close as I could get it there. It just boils down to me wanting to fit into some larger narrative, musically, in terms of these artists I love. I think about how my music will age. Ideas of ‘timeless’ are going to be different—so if Indigo is not timeless then it’s at least ‘out of time.’”

Wild Nothing Announces New Album, Shares New Tracks "To Know You" and "TV Queen"
Virginia based singer/songwriter Jack Tatum aka Wild Nothing has announced his new album 'Life of Pause' will be release on 19th February via Captured Tracks.
About the follow-up to 2012's full-length 'Nocturne', Tatum says:
"I desperately wanted for this to be the kind of record that would displace me. I’m terrified by the idea of being any one thing, or being of any one genre. And whether or not I accomplish that, I know that my only hope of getting there is to constantly reinvent. That reinvention doesn’t need to be drastic, but every new record has to have it’s own identity, and it has to have a separate set of goals from what came before."

Wild Nothing, Beach Fossils & Holograms Members Form 'The Snow', Share "Memory Loss"
Captured Tracks labelmates Jack Tatum aka Wild Nothing, Dustin Payseur of Beach Fossils and Andreas Lagerström of Holograms, have form a new supergroup called The Snow.
The new trio have announced a 7" release for Record Store Day. "Memory Loss" is the first taste and will come back with "Joy of Life", available from April 19 via Captured Tracks.

Wild Nothing Announces New EP 'Empty Estate', Unveils Video For "A Dancing Shell"
Jack Tatum's musical project Wild Nothing will release a new a seven-track EP tilted 'Empty Estate' on May 14th.
Recorded at Gary's Electric in Brooklyn by Al Carlson, the EP features new paintings and illustrations from Eric Shaw and the deluxe edition includes red vinyl, illustrated insert, an obi strip, poster, hand numbered envelope, 2x sticker pages, button and slap bracelet.

Speaking of the EP, Tatum has said: "This is a record that happened very fast for me. We had just gotten back from a particularly long European tour last November, our first supporting 'Nocturne', and I was feeling a lot of things. I found myself struggling with what it meant to be a musician, with what music in general meant to me and what part I could possibly play in it. Playing the same songs every night for months left me bored with myself. But when I got home, for the first time in awhile it suddenly seemed that the pressure was off. We didn't have any tours planned for several months and I started to remember again why I love music in the first place. I listened to Brian Eno and David Bowie for weeks on end and felt like I was hearing them for the first time. I took a trip to Miami with my girlfriend. I visited my family. I felt free to try things musically that I would have stifled before. The songs on this EP were recorded over a 10 day period and are a reflection of this time. Of all the frustrations and successes and moments of peace in between."
