SPLLIT Unveil Two-Track Single "Ledder Cote / Adobe House"

Baton Rouge, Louisiana art punk/experimental band SPLLIT have unveiled their new two-track single  "Ledder Cote / Adobe House".

The band explained: If we are proud to have an artifact in our odd catalog of bizarre beauties, that's SPLLIT's debut album, released last year on Feel It Records, where these angulars Baton Rouge alligators already made it clear with their first aptly titled single, "Next Level Music", that in music not everything has been invented... Far from it! The only difference between this surprising duo and most of the line-ups who try to perform such acrobatics, is that few bands manage to do it in such an instant, catchy, groovy... And above all unique way, something that is even more enervating with these two new tracks in which they prove their ability to surpass themselves... And now you can call this Post-punk, no wave, new wave... Or whatever you want, we prefer to call it SPLLIT sound!

"A tribute to the adobe house in Presidio, TX where we wrote and recorded for a few days around the new year, 2020-2021. Also serves as a bonus to "Spllit Sides" and as the start of something new."

Ledder Cote was recorded January 2021 in Baton Rouge, LA using the "Presidio method" of drum loop composition.

The recording for Adobe House, began December 2020 in Presidio, TX and was completed July 2022 in Baton Rouge, LA

Stephen Mallinder Airs "Shock to the Body" New Video

Brighton, UK musician Stephen Mallinder, co-founder and frontman of the iconic Cabaret Voltaire, has aired the video for "Shock to the Body".

The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from his second solo album 'tick tick tick', which came out last month (July 15) via Dais Records, grab it here.

Channeling the temporal malaise of lockdown through a lusher palette of modular electronics and stereo strings, the songs embrace ambiguity and plasticity, loose systems of percolating circuitry and airless funk. Recorded across a handful of sessions at MemeTune Studios in Cornwall with frequent collaborator Benge (aka Ben Edwards), Mallinder cites no guiding aesthetic premise for the collection beyond “cowbell on every track, and entirely no reverb.”

Cabaret Voltaire's Stephen Mallinder Announces New LP 'tick tick tick', Airs 'Hush'

Brighton, UK musician Stephen Mallinder, co-founder and frontman of the iconic Cabaret Voltaire, has announced the release of his second solo album 'tick tick tick'.

The follow-up to 2019's debut Um Dada, further distills his signature fusion of minimal synth, oblique wordplay, and “wonky disco” into a riveting rhythm suite ripe for our age of escalation: tick tick tick.  It will be out on July 15 via Dais Records, pre-order it here.

Lyrically the record is equally evasive, rich with allusions and associative linguistics, surveying liquid notions of societal noise, ecological ruin, art world pretension, and the trials of daily life. But the lack of fixed meaning remains Mallinder’s main muse: “Music should draw you in; lyrics should make you think. Most interpretation is misinterpretation.” This is music of countdowns and comedowns, fleeting pleasures and opaque futures, observing the great decline while dancing on its ashes. Flux is deathless and forever; the rest, illusion: “I will be a constant figure / Flickering a moving picture / Turning in your head forever / Split apart but held together.”

Check out the album's tracklist and take a listen to the late-night techno-influenced lead single "Hush", below.

tick tick tick Tracklist:
1. Contact
2. ringdropp
3. Galaxy
4. Wasteland
5. Hush
6. Shock to the Body
7. Guernica Gallery
8. The Trial
9. tick tick tick

Watch: Vukovar Unveil New Single/Video "Place To Rest"

UK experimental/post punk/deathpop band VUKOVAR have the video for their new single "Place To Rest".

The song is taken from 'The Body Abdicator', the third the third and final movement of the Eternity Ends Here triptych set to be released on June 25 via Other Voices Records. Get it here.

A sweet combination of post-modern and modern alternative with a dash of dream-pop, ‘Place To Rest’ gives the band’s signature sound a move ahead and a breath apart by colliding said styles into a moldable mesh of sonic bliss. Simple yet elegant. Beautiful yet gritty. Take that for what you will, but ‘Place To Rest’ also gives you a place to contemplate.

VUKOVAR formed in a crumbling placefiller of a town in 2014. They were always dying and reorganized after cease to exist in 2019. Effete artists pretending to be northern hardcases  pretending to be uniform fetishists in iconoclast drag. "Do not trust us; we are fragile stars."

After the devastating loss of Simon Morris to suicide in 2019, Vukovar have worked on 'Eternity Ends Here'.

New Entry: Perel Releases New Single "Real"

German DJ/producer Perel (aka Annegret Fiedler) has released her new single "Real".

The song is taken from her upcoming sophomore album 'Jesus Was An Alien', set to arrive on May 13 via Kompakt Records. Pre-order your copy here.

“Jesus Was An Alien is a discourse about whether Jesus was an actual alien,” she explains, “but also a social debate about what is and implies religion today.” She offers up her provocative second record as a soundtrack for the listener’s own journey through the intricacies and ironies of modern belief.

Picking up on the themes she brought to her debut, the 2018’s LP Hermetica on DFA, Perel has created ten tracks rich with spirit and allusion. Her influences are myriad, from the indie dance hitmakers of the early 2000s – Hot Chip, Simian Mobile Disco, Justice – to rave compilations that predate her ascent to the DJ booth, to more abstract inputs. Living with synesthesia, she says, “I feel emotions and colors piling up inside me, then there’s a triggering sound or event that opens a valve. My tracks are color streams that tell a story.”

Watch: NNHMN Drop Music Video For "Omen"

Berlin electronic/dark ambient/experimental/synth duo NNHMN (aka Lee and Michal Laudarg) have dropped the video for their latest single "Omen".

The song "the anti-war rocket telling the story of the nature of evil," is our current Single of the Week and is taken from their upcoming new EP '𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗢𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗘𝘅𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘇𝘆' set to be released on Mat 25 via Young and Cold Records. Pre-order it here

From the duo: The world in which incarnations of ancient gods live. The modern urban techno panorama where sinister doom meets ethereal and untouchable higher self...the movie is loosely inspired by the series of Matthew Barney ''Cremaster'' , BDSM culture with Yoshi Yamamoto's touch and the nostalgic memory of The Neverending Story movie - where the better self is fighting with demons and gods of the underworld. A metaphoric dream.

New Entry: Warm Graves Drop New Single "Sound Sleeper"

Leipzig-based sci-fi/wave/experimental outfit Warm Graves (the moniker of composer Jonas Wehner) have dropped their new single "Sound Sleeper".

The song is taken from their forthcoming sohpomore album 'Ease', which will be available on February 25th through Fuzz Club. Pre-order your copy here.

The record arrives seven years on from their 2014 debut album ‘Ships Will Come’. This seven-year gestation between the two albums brings with it a transformation in the creative process of Warm Graves, much like the human body exchanges its cells every seven years – our human bodies being both the same and wholly other. “For me, ‘Ease’ always comes back to the idea of transformation”, Wehner says: “In this case, from struggle to ease, choirs to whispers, rush to patience, light to dark. Those 7 years didn’t pass lightly. Life took a lot of turns and I had a lot to learn. It’s all in there compressed in 9 tracks.”

New Entry: VACUUM Share New Single "I'll Call You"

Melbourne experimental/electronic duo VACUUM have shared their new single "I'll Call You".

The song, which explores Western end-of-life rituals, is taken from their forthcoming self-titled debut LP, set to arrive on February 18, 2022 through via Heavy Machinery and It Records. Album released . Get it here.

Cavernous soundscapes are cut razor sharp and met with Andrea Blake (ASPS/CHROME DOME) and Jenny Branagan’s (NUN) dual deadpan recitations, reminiscent of early Anne Clark. An ominous sub bass sets the tone while the squeak of a rubber sole on waxed hospital floors is dressed in an echo of New Wave delay.

Empty platitudes are uttered down the phone line - diegetic and delivered like an infernal Shangri-las. The anticipation of a flatline extracts the sacred from the mundane – the Temenos of a waiting room, the Oracle of the Yellow Pages and an Ambrosia of instant coffee.
