YGGL Unveils Music Video For "SHAME"

French coldwave/grunge artist YGGL (aka Yrwan Garcia Leal) has unveiled the video for his latest single "SHAME".

The song is taken from his album ’FORGOTTEN’, released earlier this year (February 25)  through Musique d'Apértif Record. Buy it here.

With his third album, YGGL gets rid of the coldwave darkness of his previous opus. The drum machine becomes softened to let us feel the melody again like the light at the end of the tunnel, a needed step after a difficult family bereavement.

His Words: "Shame is the first song I wrote when I started preparing this album. I find it a little different from my other sounds, it has a little shoegaze ballad side I find that this postcard clip from England from the time when Queen Elisabeth had not yet left to join Tupac and Biggie on an island fits quite well with the British vibe of this song. Good viewing"

The True Faith Announce New LP 'Go to Ground', Stream "Minimal Change"

Boston coldwave/post punk/darkwave band True Faith have announced the release of their second studio album 'Go to Ground'.

The follow-up to their 2021's debut LP 'They Can Always Hurt You More', was produced by Ryan Santos Phillips and the band and will be out on January 20th through A La Carte Records. Pre-order your copy here.

Sapeking about the record and their new single, the band's Travis Benson says: “‘Minimal Change’ is the first single from our sophomore album, titled Go to Ground. We tapped Ryan Santos Phillips (Spirits of Leo – Lux Perpetua NYC studios in Brooklyn, NY) to produce and engineer a new album after we played a show together in Brooklyn. I was captivated by his abilities with respect to his work with Spirits of Leo and felt that he had both the vision and know-how to help us create an album that serves as a testament to our development as a group. For us, They Can Always Hurt You More documents the band at a point where we are eager and still trying to find our footing in the subcultural microcosm. Having some time to sit on the first album and reflecting on what resonated the most with us, we began writing another album with a greater sense of purpose for our sound.

“We chose this song as the first single because we felt it serves as the best bridge between our first album and our new songs. I think it showcases our growth as musicians and songwriters and takes things beyond the familiarity of the recent wave of post-punk artists. Writing the song, and the album for that matter, I found greater influence in artists like The Pixies, Comsat Angels, and Big Country while still attempting to stay rooted in the sound crafted by artists like The Chameleons, The Sound, and Lowlife.

“Lyrically, ‘Minimal Change’ came at a time where we were all going through some major life changes. We are all transitioning into new points in our lives and the new roles and expectations that come with them. Often, these new expectations of us are at odds with what we truly want or believe in. So this song was an attempt at reconciling these changes in our lives, even when they go against what our expectations were.”

French coldwave/post punk/synthwave duo Echoberyl have dropped their new single "Silent Monster (The Other Side of the Mirror)", alongside an accompanying music video.

During the recording of the songs for the new album, in a moment of creative impasse that had lasted for weeks, one night a simple melody and a bass riff appeared out of nowhere. Even the lyrics wrote themselves, in a few minutes. A magic mirror, a girl in crisis, a threatening forest, a silent monster on the other side of the mirror.

The Present Moment Details New LP 'Enough To Drive You Mad', Airs "Dharma"

Los Angeles cold wave/minimal synth/electro artist The Present Moment (aka Scott Milton) has revealed details of his upcoming new album 'Enough To Drive You Mad.'

His fifth studio album was recorded in Los Angeles during the 2020-2021 lockdown against the backdrop of Covid-19's seemingly unstoppable fear and omnipresent suffering and will be out on May 1st. Pre-order your copy here.

Dark, blunt, and beautiful ETDYM dives unflinching into the horror of watching a world flail in helplessness through waves of sickness, misinformation, anger, hypocrisy and greed, all the while clinging desperately to the concept of empathy and the endurance of the human spirit. 

Enough To Drive You Mad marks the second recorded collaboration between project founder Milton Scott and award-winning composer and singer/songwriter/producer Jason "Halogen" Dunn. Milton and Dunn began working together with the B-side of 2019's Split album, which expanded THE PRESENT MOMENT'S minimalist synth sound with the addition of live instruments and shifting arrangements, a melding of worlds that continues to allow Milton's haunting voice and gift for lyrical imagery to paint new characters and scenes over a lush landscape of shimmering guitars, driving bass lines, and pummeling drum loops - in concert with the hypnotic arpeggio lines and synth soundscapes that the band's fans hold dear.
