Watch: Pozi Release Music Video For "Detainer Man"

London punk/post punk band Pozi have released the video for their latest single "Detainer Man".

The song is taken from their upcoming new EP 'Typing' which will be out on 29th October via PRAH Recordings. Pre-order your copy here.

“This song is written from the perspective of a brainwashed police officer, preprogrammed to inflict abuse upon a person not conforming to the system. Robotic self orders instruct the officer to detain people.”

Detainer Man is a surging rush of thick bass lines, fidgety string squalls and frantic call and response vocals. It’s a queasy but exhilarating ride, complimenting the group’s intentionally minimalist sonic palette, as Burroughs and Brook take on the role of a pre-programmed police officer dishing out abuse. It’s inspiration could’ve been drawn from any number of protests held over the past year.

New Entry: Pozi Unleash New Single "Sea Song"

London punk/post punk band Pozi have unleashed their new single "Sea Song".

The song is taken from their upcoming new EP 'Typing' which will be out on 29th October via PRAH Recordings. Pre-order your copy here.

You can link themes of anxiety all the way back to drummer/vocalist Toby Burroughs, violinist/vocalist Rosa Brook and bassist/vocalist Tom Jones’ 2019 LP PZ1. It’s in the music of their wire-pulled-tight post-punk, which has always been gripped with tension; and it’s in their lyrics, whether they’re trying to avoid the dull glow of phone addiction, dealing with social anxieties, or addressing national-scale scandals such as the Grenfell tower tragedy.

On Sea Song, that sickly discomfort is once again prominent: the track becomes increasingly suffocating with Brook to the fore, her refrain of “feel the rising tide” closing in around the listener as her violin cuts through the gravelly atmosphere.

“The track’s more meditative structure allowed us to look at themes that Covid 19 had brought to the surface, such as time, death, fear, distance from other humans, the loss of relationships and witnessing cycles within nature around viruses and pandemics” the band explain. “Though on the surface it’s relating to the sea and the beach, these can be associated with release and escape too.”

Watch: Pozi Unveil New Single/Video "The Nightmare"

London punk/post punk band Pozi have unveiled the video for their new single "The Nightmare".

The song is taken from their upcoming new EP '176' which will be out on July 3rd via PRAH Recordings. Pre-order your copy here.

“The Nightmare” employs jarring call and response-style vocals to construct a sonically disorientating sound, evoking a panic stricken bad dream or the anxiety felt when trapped in an unnerving social situation.

Although written and recorded pre-pandemic, the title could not be more apt to the world we currently find ourselves in. The video puts the band in a CGI nightmare as reality dissolves throughout the track: "After seeing some of Alfie's brilliant animations we asked him to create a 3D world that visualised the way anxiety can warp reality" say the band. "We had no idea of the pandemic that was about to happen when we first planned the video, so we had to adapt. Alfie helped guide us through this and was full of great ideas.

"It presented us with a unique challenge, as we had to film our parts separately, in our own spaces" says director Alfie Dwyer. "The video is therefore also a time-capsule that expresses the claustrophobia and creativity that the virus has brought out in people."

Watch: Pozi Air New Single/Video "Whitewashing"

London punk/post punk band Pozi have aired the video for their new single "Whitewashing".

The song is taken from their upcoming new EP '176' which will be out on July 3rd via PRAH Recordings. Pre-order your copy here.

“We wanted to start fully utilising Rosa’s voice as, adjacent to the other vocals, it really adds another layer to our music. Much of the jamming sessions were spent working around a way to weave this into the sound we’d already created,” explains vocalist / drummer Toby Burroughs. “As we’re all singers and writers, if someone has something that they want to say in a song, it’s great for us to be able to share the lead vocal around.”
