UK-based dream pop/lo-fi/indie artist Jesse D'Kora (aka Dan Parker from Juliper Sky and Affairs) has aired his new single "old movies".
From Jesse: Inspired by spending long summer days indoors, ‘old movies’ is a melancholic song about just that. The wavey guitars and spacious oohs are prominent features, and the hope is this song can transport you straight into summer!
UK-based dream pop/lo-fi/indie artist Jesse D'Kora (aka Dan Parker from Juliper Sky and Affairs) has unveiled his new single "any other night".
From Jesse: Inspired by closure and the mechanics of a disintegrating situation, any other night is a sad but also optimistic song. Musically it's got all the things you would expect from me, jangly guitars, pulsing drums, washy synths and a bitesize structure. I’d say this is a tune for a road trip, a song for winding the windows down, relaxing and taking in the views!
UK-based dream pop/lo-fi/indie artist Jesse D'Kora (aka Dan Parker from Juliper Sky and Affairs) has revealed his new single "to boldly go".
From Jesse: Inspired by memories of being a kid sitting watching Star Trek: The Next Generation on the sofa with my Dad, this a tribute to my younger self who used to hide that I was a fan in fear I would get called a nerd. I think it's time to embrace the nerd.
Musically it mixes dreamy and other world sounds and effects with some silly tongue in cheek lyrics. It has the usual jangly guitar tones but now paired with a kilter drum pattern - something a little new from me. It’s a familiar sound with a new sheen.
UK-based dream pop/lo-fi/indie artist Jesse D'Kora (aka Dan Parker from Juliper Sky and Affairs) has aired the video for his new single "dont fool with a phantom".
Spesking about it, D'Kora says: "I wanted to make a song that made me feel like I was back in the 90s watching cartoons again. Inspired by those early mornings as a child in front of the tv with some sort of ridiculously unhealthy and tasty cereal, the title of this track is taken from an original classic Scooby Doo episode. Looking back I find the idea of chasing and unmasking the bad guys for them to only turn out to be someone you know and don’t expect strangely parallel in adult life. Specifically with the new age anonymity that the internet brings, I decided this song is for the trolls. So any internet trolls out there, this ones for you! ;)
Musically it's similar to many of my other tracks; it's got the jangling guitars, surfing drums, washed out vocals and to the point structure. On its own, I think it's a track that wants to chase you down a hallway lined with doors, for you to go in one door and come out of another and let chased become the chaser… or something like that!"
I would definitely say this is a mood song for driving, so get the car running!"
UK-based dream pop/lo-fi/indie artist Jesse D'Kora (aka Dan Parker from Juliper Sky and Affairs) has aired his new single "you might not be".
Speking about it, D'Kora syas: "Inspired by a documentary on The Talking Heads, this release is a little different to the others. I wanted to make something a bit weird and incorporate ideas and sounds from other genres and styles.
Lyrically it's inspired, like many of my other songs, about getting older, particularly the context is in view of having a conversation with a younger version of yourself. Often it’s easy to focus on the regrets and the mistakes and think how you would do things differently if it all could be redone, but ultimately without the mistakes the knowledge to do what's right so we are ultimately bound to follow the same path.
I would definitely say this is a mood song for driving, so get the car running!"
UK-based dream pop/lo-fi/indie artist Jesse D'Kora (aka Dan Parker from Juliper Sky and Affairs) has revealed his new single "the fourth day of november".
Speking about it, D'Kora syas: "'Fourth Day of November' is written about the anticipation of moving from one place to another. It conveys the blend of nervousness and excitement that inevitably comes with a new beginning. The connotations that align with my fresh start on the road to an album seemed to fit perfectly."
"Musically, it's a revert back to the style created previously in Morning Light and Far From Home. After a short musical detour at the end of last year, I want to get back to writing songs that make you feel warm and nostalgic."

UK-based dream pop/lo-fi/indie artist Jesse D'Kora (aka Dan Parker from Juliper Sky and Affairs) has premiered his debut single "far from home", and its accompanying video.
Speaking about the writing process and the sound of the song, Dan explains: "I wrote the track earlier this year, when I was experimenting with simplifying my writing process. The bones of the track came together very quickly (2-3 hours). I had found I was overcomplicating the process and hit a bit of a wall, I also found myself making layer after layer, most of which were not adding anything meaningful to the track itself. So I limited myself to simpler parts and less layers to get myself through the wall.
Originally called Grass is Green then Long Distance and then finally Far From Home. It's been a track that appeared quickly but then took longer to get all the details right. It’s also my first mix, so whilst I know future songs will be better from a production perspective, the song itself means a lot to me and thought it would be a great introduction to my music."
