We were going to shoot with a crew down in Austin and in LA. But as with everything Covid related, we had to scrap it and went for simple, which turned out to be the right move. I asked Choreographer Kaite Faulkner to listen to the song and see what she might do. We then shot a series of sketches (just the two of us) around Alameda CA over a period of two months (staying 6 feet apart). Because it was just the two of us, it allowed us to vibe off the energy of the song, try things out and keep moving. I was able to let the camerawork fall apart and feel it's way through the song, syncing up with Randy and Dean via Katie's moves."

We were on tour in Europe a few years back and weeks into it hit some rough weather while driving through the alps in the dark. We ended up staying in a chalet in a small Swiss town just north of the Italian border. We weren’t really jiving well with our driver the whole tour, he was pretty much a loose canon, having these periodical meltdowns. He also carried around a knife the size of a machete. This song was written while trying to fall asleep in that darkness, nervous he was going to murder us all during the night. Luckily he didn’t but managed to be an asshole the remainder of the tour and thereafter.”

About the song: An ode to all the healthy relationships that have transformed into nightmares thanks to the unprecedented times we find ourselves in. Communicating so inhumanly via the phone screens we are chained too. Laced with an important message of learning to let go of unhealthy codependency issues and pushed to the limit by factors out of our control. A sugar-coated lesson in amicable breakups. A newfound intensity born out of the very nature of being stuck inside like we have NEVER known before. Either suffocated by each other, in the same household while we try and contextualise the meaning behind what this pandemic means for us as individuals, or stopped from seeing loved ones in person and again enforcing communication through emotionless pixels.

As is becoming a Thrillhouse signature, sincere subject matter is offset with uplifting instrumentation. Wild Child delves into the passing of time and family with a joyous backdrop of 80s groove.
