Nottingham indie rock/punk duo Sleaford Mods (aka Jason Williamson and Andrew Fearn) have announced the release of their sixth studio album 'Spare Ribs'.
The follow-up to 2019's Eton Alive, featuring Amy Taylor of Melbourne punks Amyl and the Sniffers and the British newcomer Billy Nomates, finds the duo charged with ire at the UK Government’s sense of entitlement, epitomized by its devil-may-care approach to the coronavirus crisis. It will be out on January 15 2021 via Rough Trade. Pre-order your copy here.
Recorded in lockdown in a furious three-week studio blitz at JT Soar in July, the polemical Jason Williamson and dexterous producer Andrew Fearn kick against the pricks with unrivalled bite, railing against hypocrisy, inequality and apathy with their inimitable, scabrous sense of humour.
Commenting on the new album Jason says, “'Our lives are expendable under most governments, secondary under a system of monetary rule. We are stock if you like, parts on a shelf for the purposes of profit, discarded at any moment if fabricated or non-fabricated crisis threatens productivity. This is constant, obviously and notably in the current pandemic. The masses cannot be present in the minds of ill-fitting leaders, surely? Or else the realisation of their catastrophic management would cripple their minds. Much like the human body can still survive without a full set of ribs we are all 'spare ribs’, preservation for capitalism, through ignorance and remote rule, available for parts.”
The band have also shared the video for their new single "Mork n Mindy" Ft. Billy Nomates, described as "the sound of the central heating and the dying smells of Sunday dinner in a house on an estate in 1982. Concrete, dinted garages, nicotine. Where beauty mainly exists in small cracks on the shell of your imagination."
Check out the album's tracklist and watch the video for "Mork n Mindy (Ft. Billy Nomates)", below.

The 12-track record, featuring their new single "I've Had Enough," will be out on December 4th via Cooking Vinyl. Pre-order your copy here.
All Our Friends is a genre-bending album that plays on contrast and juxtaposition. A diverse collection of songs that explore a milieu of beauty with an underbelly of addiction, depression and abuse.
If not for its lyrical weight, many of the songs soar and float into elation, yet never do the tracks feel ungrounded. There is a balancing act being performed in each song that allows humour, contemplation and joy to shine, without ever overcorrecting into obnoxiousness. It is a love letter that criticises and analyses one’s self and one’s environment, with musical expanse and determined lyricism.
Check out the album's tracklist and watch the video for "I've Had Enough" below.
Isle of Wight indie rock/pop band Coach Party (formerly known as Jeph) have unleashed their new single "Really OK on My Own".
Speaking about it, lead singer/bassist Jess Eastwood says: "It’s all about being so in love with someone, that you start blowing off your friends to spend time with just them. However, there’s always that fight, where when you love someone so much, you also think of the possibility of suddenly ‘would you be ok without them?’ Then there’s the chorus of ‘does she even know you’re here’ - this is relating to a scenario where you’re with someone who’s already with someone else, and you’re always comparing yourself to them: ‘do I make you feel better’. Generally touching base on how complicated love is, and where your thoughts can spiral."
The song is out now via Chess Club Records. Get it here and take a listen below.

Swindon/Bristol indie pop band Stay Lunar have premiered their new single "Not Your Fight".
Speaking about it, the band told Clout: “Not Your Fight’ is actually quite a dark song about trying to help someone with an addiction – but luckily, in typical Stay Lunar fashion, we’ve turned a difficult topic into something that we feel is a really up-beat and fun to listen to. We really love the idea of people both being able to dance to our songs and listen with headphones on their beds at night while they’re feeling all reflective about life.
UPDATE 02/11/2020: "Not Your Fight" is our new Single of the Week!
I guess that sums up the contrast between writing and performing for us, the writing is very personal and emotional, whilst the performing is a real release and a huge amount of fun, so we hope that comes across in our music.”
The song is out tomorrow (Oct 30). Grab it here and take a listen below.

Dublin rock n roll four-piece Inhaler have unleashed the video for their recent single "When It Breaks".
The song is part of our current playlist and is out now via Polydor Records. Grab it here
The band's words: “We wrote the song in the last couple of months. Over lockdown we were floating around the instrumental demo, it was dark but also pretty hopeful sounding. When we went back to the studio over the summer and really got to put our heads together again, we felt like we had to write something about what was going on and how we felt about it.
“Coming off tour into lockdown was a huge adjustment for us after we had just got used to life on the tour. At first, it was a welcome break but pretty soon we were dying to get back to any festival or any gig where we could get our fix! The lyrics and the music communicate the anxiousness of how we were all feeling and still are now a couple months later. It’s definitely the most politically-driven song we’ve released so far. It’s our interpretation of this strange and imperfect world we’ve come to live in. Things are gonna change and we are gonna be there when they do.”
Bristol post punk/noise/alt band Spectres have unveiled the video for their new single "Idolise Us!".

Norwegian post-punk art rockers Datarock have shared their new single "Tick Tock".
The song, mixed by the Grammy winning legend Steve Dub (Moby, Chemical Brothers, New Order, Underworld, The Prodigy) and mastered by the pioneer Mike Marsh (Calvin Harris, Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx, Depeche Mode, Bjork, Oasis), is out now out on YAP Records. Get your copy here.
'Tick Tock' is one of the new songs we ended up writing & producing during the Norwegian COVID-19 lockdown - coincidentally kicking in at the exact time we were supposed to tour & celebrate the 15 year anniversary for our 2005 debut 'DATAROCK DATAROCK' (printed on vinyl for the first time ever - as limited edition translucent, orange 12 inch for Record Store Day 2020).
Immersing ourselves in the joyful work we did 15 years ago - and at the same time trying to cope with the new (ab)normal - we ended up producing a song somewhat tied in with the post-punk & indie-dance from our 2005 debut. This time though part affected by the intense seriousness of the ongoing pandemic, part by the BLM movement and the global reactions to police brutality, the political awakening among even the very young, and parts by the polarizing rhetorics & nature of the upcoming (un)presidential US election, 'Tick Tock' revolve around the dire need for everyone living in the US to please vote so the world can hopefully move on in a better direction after November 3rd.
For the ones who don't care about lyrics 'Tick Tock' is the sound of desperately trying to enjoy ourselves in the darkest of moments; joy as an act of resistance...

The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from their album 'The Glow', released back in July via I Oh You Records. Get your copy here.
‘Round & Around’ is the song that best bridges the gap between the band’s forward-facing sound and their love for Britpop, as it progresses from jangly indie guitars into a full-throttle rush of energy. O’Dell’s vocals capture the melancholy of waking up on a Sunday morning and not knowing where life is taking you, yet his power and poise is immediately uplifting.
The ‘Round & Around’ video explores the band’s roots in Newtown, Sydney. It features a mix of new and archive footage of the band in their local environment and includes clips of them performing on the roof of The Hotel Marlborough. The video was directed by Steve Lattuca.
The band commented, "Around the world stadiums, arenas and venues still lie empty, missing the people that bring them alive. Here’s our new music video for ‘Round & Around’ on the big screen at Goodison Park.”

The song is taken from their forthcoming EP 'Modern Fantasy', due in 2021.
UPDATE 26/10/2020: "Into the Outer Light" is our new Single of the Week!
Sonically ‘Into the Outer Light’ continues to build upon much of the Shoegaze sounds encapsulated in the bands earlier releases. Made up of lush reverbs, pounding drums and soaring vocal hooks.
Jamie Lambert (Vocalist, Guitar) commented on how “lyrically ‘Into the Outer Light’ explores the feelings and emotions of starting a new journey. When you have got to a point in your life which seems directionless and without purpose, but through an event or encounter those feelings suddenly change and a new cycle begins. The song has been in the making for a while but the lyrics gained a new meaning in light of the current world around us. I’m sure a lot of people, ourselves included, have used the past few months to reflect and question our current directions in life”.
Liam Grindell (Guitar, Synth) commented “We wanted to write a body of music that is in essence, going from point A to point B. ‘Into the Outer Light’ is the first single release which forms part of a bigger picture aiming towards 2021's EP release. The track itself is the start of a journey and we wanted the music to reflect this, aiming to create an energetic feeling of excitement, and pace”.
