EMF Share Music Video For "Crime of Passion"

English indie/alt band EMF have shared the video for their latest single "Crime of Passion".

The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from their album 'GO GO SAPIENS', their first since 1995, released back in April. Buy it here.

CRIME OF PASSION deals with what happens when you fall in love with someone that keeps on breaking your heart, EMF’s singer James Atkin cries out soulfully ‘What I’m feeling’! trying to make sense of a tangle of dangerous emotions.

James shows his versatility at the service of emotion and submission, the arrangement has hints of New Order and the Smiths, bands that formed EMF’s musical direction and a synth solo that wouldn’t be out of place on an 80’s dance floor.

Nation of Language Unveil New Single "From The Hill"

Brooklyn post punk/new wave/synth-pop outfit Nation Of Language have unveiled their new single "From The Hill", alongside an accompanying music video.

The song is out now and is the trio's first new music since 2021's album 'A Way Forward'. Get it here.

Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Ian Devaney said in a statement: “From the Hill” is a song reflecting on times when friendships fall apart over romantic entanglement, accompanied by the sensation that you’re somehow watching it happen from above with a more zoomed-out perspective. It can feel at times like certain parts of life are a story with which you’re just following along—the characters enter, they play their role, and then they leave. Often it’ll feel sudden and catch you off guard, and other times you’re able to see that it’s the only way things could have played out despite what you may have wanted. For us, we’re in a moment right now where it feels good to get this out into the world. It’s one that didn't really feel like it fit the vibe of A Way Forward, nor is it any real indication of where the next record is likely heading. When that situation arrives we like to use these 7" releases to step outside the larger framework that the albums provide and just release a track that we love, so this is us doing that once again.

L'objectif Return With New Single/Video "The Dance You Sell"

Leeds indie rock band L'objectif have returned with their new single "The Dance You Sell" and its accompanying video.

The song is out today (Sept 28) through Chess Club Records and follows the release of their EP 'We Aren’t Getting Out but Tonight We Might', back in June. Get it here.

Frontman Saul Kane says: “I noticed that some people, including myself, can desire for a past that didn’t serve them at all. It’s like a yearning for a place of comfort but that comfort can depress you. This is something I’m learning and I guess you can see it in the narrative of the song, going from words of passion and love to just a general distaste. You convince yourself you need to be ‘stuck’ in this place, even though you feel completely different to how you used to. It’s this comfort we find in dullness that sometimes stops people from moving forward.”

DEADLETTER Premiere New Single/Video "Weights"

Yorkshire post punk band DEADLETTER have premiered their new single "Weights", alongside an accompanying music video.

The song is out now and is taken from their debut EP 'Heat!', set to be released on 18th November through SO Recordings. Get it here.

Speaking about it, lead vocalist Zac Lawrence states: ‘Weights’ in parts, is a pessimistic musing on the experiences you take with you through life, which can feel like a physical burden to be dragged without reprieve. But it’s also a track of silver linings, as it aims to cement the idea that it’s fine to accept that you’re not always alright, and that you can ask for help should things get too heavy – and that’s often the only way of lessening the load. It’s informed by sorrow and self-loathing, but also joy and healing.

Gathering of Strangers Unleash "Red and Gold" Music Video

Manchester indie rock band/alt Gathering of Strangers have unleashed the video for their latest single "Red and Gold".

The song is part of our current playlist and came out last month (Aug 19), get it here. Described by the band as being about “having the time of your life with your lover or your family. Simply dancing from sunset to sunrise all night long”, that sense of sheer elation is palpable across the track’s runtime.

"My absolute favourite time of the day is just after sunset, and you have about five minutes when the sun has disappeared, but it has turned the whole sky a golden red. I wanted to capture my feelings during those 5 minutes and put it in a song" explains frontman Conor Rabone.

“Having come out of the pandemic and not being allowed to go anywhere. We felt this was absolutely necessary to write an upbeat, feel-good track to go hand in hand with this beautiful summer of freedom.”
