New Entry: Crystal Cities Release New Single "The Unknown"

Sydney indie/dream pop band Crystal Cities have released their new single "𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑼𝒏𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒏".

VR SEX Announce New EP 'Cyber Crimes', Stream "Minor Case"

Los Angeles synth punk/death rock/post punk outfit VR SEX (lead by Andrew Clinco) have announced the release of their new EP 'Cyber Crimes.'

From the band: "No one is exempt from the world wide web of destruction. A once -innocent digital playground has turned into a panopticon for pedophiles and predators - waiting, watching, baiting, and stalking. 2020 proved to be the tipping point in exposing these bloodsuckers within the world of music and art. Devoid of satire and sarcasm, Cyber Crimes stands alongside the victimized and attempts to serve as a sobering scene report for the current state of affairs."

Watch: Violent Vickie Reveals Music Video For "Circle Square"

Los Angeles-based darkwave/electropunk/synth band Violent Vickie have revealed the video for her latest single "Circle Square".

The song is part of our current playlist and is talen from her album 'Division', which came out in September 2020. Grab your copy here.

The music video is a layered, rhythmic collage directed by AJ Strout of Ex Corpse Art Collective. It was shot on Vickie's Photobooth computer app in her apartment during the pandemic when in-person creativity was not a possibility. Much like Violent Vickie's epic Serotonin project, the black and white video features the counterculture design and aesthetics that visual artist  AJ Strout has presented at goth clubs throughout Los Angeles. 

"Circle Square" is a gloomy, noisy electronic track with forlorn and haughty vocals that, conceptually, is an exploration of the illusion of not belonging.

Desperate Journalist Announce New LP 'Maximum Sorrow!', Stream "Fault"

London indie rock/indie pop/post punk/alt band  Desperate Journalist have announced the release of their third studio album 'Maximum Sorrow!'.

Speaking about the making of the album, the band explain: “Partly due to the pandemic, this is the first time we have recorded without the esteemed Keith TOTP. Instead, we recorded around the corner from where we all live at Crouch End Studios with Rollo Smallcombe. Rollo was enormously influential in making sure we followed through and developed our ideas in the studio and is responsible in no small part for how this record turned out. Not least in terms of the number of egg shakers included…”

I’ve always loved the H.P. Lovecraft story, The Dream-Quest For Unknown Kadath and the lyrics to this song are directly inspired by it. I’ve imagined a group of dreamers in love with and searching for a lost city that may have only been imagined - like the old city of San Francisco which is dearly missed by those who’ve experienced her in a past life.
