New Entry: Daffodils Return With New Single "How Do You Know?"

Tāmaki Makaurau-based indie pop/rock band Daffodils have returned with their new single "How Do You Know?".

The song is is taken from their forthcoming EP 'Stay The Night' which will be released on 17th June. Get it here.

On the track, the band reveal that “How Do You Know? is about finding substances as a way of coping with the shit that life throws at you, and how easy it is to fall into a cycle of dealing with things by just tapping out of reality. It’s easy to push people away when you’re convinced that you’re capable of solving all your problems on your own, and this song kind of looks at how it feels when you’re stuck in that cycle.”

San Francisco art punk band Rip Room have aired their new single "Loose Ends".

Speaking about it, singer-guitarist John Reed said: “Writing during the Trump era, it was hard to resist the urge to write exclusively about what a monster he is. Temptation got the best of me on our song ‘Loose Ends.’ One of the scariest things about that time was getting desensitized to the crazy shit coming out of his mouth day after day … heartless and nonsensical, but calculated. And to what end?”

Watch: Big Image Drop "Something (T E S T P R E S S Remix)"

Birmingham baggy/psych band Big Image (formerly known as Ivory Wave) have dropped the T E S T P R E S S remix of their latest single "Something".

The original version of the song is taken from  the forthcoming EP ‘Human Touch Is Forever’, which will be released 27th April. Pre-order the EP here and get the remix here.

Speaking about it vocalist George Johnson says, “I wrote ‘Something’ the day before we first met up as a band after lockdown. I was really missing going out so the song is about all the best nights out we’ve had rolled into one (hence the super obvious acid house influence). I wrote it in about 30 minutes. It’s really just a super simple pop song and that’s why I love it.”

Bassist Luke Morris adds, “‘Something’ lyrically tells the story of finding someone at a rave/club and spending the night with them. When George played me the demo I knew it was a single. It’s the most acid house tune we’ve done, a proper party anthem desperate to be heard by the masses.”

TRAAMS Announce New LP ''personal best, Stream "The Light at Night feat. Joe Casey"

Chichester post punk/psych trio Traams have announced the release of their third studio album 'personal best', their first in seven years.

After half a decade apart, all it took was a global pandemic to reaffirm their intense urge to create music together, and the limitations the situation brought with it ended up revolutionising their sound. 

“A lot of this album is about recognising yourself,” Stu, vocalist and songwriter, says. “This record is about the little changes we make, and the milestones we achieve in that process,” he adds, reflecting on a seven year period where his band drifted apart before reconnecting and finding an entirely new way of working, a change that has resulted in their most beautiful and fully-formed album yet. “It’s not about big declarations of love or huge outpourings of grief,” he says. “It’s about the little personal realisations and victories that people have throughout their lives. Some of them are massive, some of them can be hard, and some are small and beautiful, but they all matter.”
