Suede Working on New Album With Producer Ed Buller

Suede
According to the band's frontman Brett Anderson, Suede have discarded a large portion of new songs they played during their 2011 comeback shows, and have instead begun work on a fresh batch of material with their former producer Ed Buller.

Posting on the band's Facebook page Anderson said:

"For those of you wondering just what is happening with the new Suede material, please allow Brett to bring you up to speed...

"Ever the prancing panderer, willing to please and dance to the popular tune i thought someone should show their face and pipe up now the cat's ears are kind of poking out of the top of the bag. And that someone is me.

Yes, we are currently deep in the studio swamp with former Psychedelic Fur and erstwhile ballerina Ed Buller. As well as perfecting our Brian Butterfield impersonations we have all been merrily chipping away at the huge block of raw stone that is, whisper it, the new Suede album. What does it sound like ? Oh! I don't know, probably like some artist on some drug, engaged in a game of quoits with some other artist on another drug, you can adopt your own journalistic cliche if you haven't grown up yet.

There are guitars, there are drums, there is bass, there are more guitars and there is a bit of out of tune warbling but most importantly there are songs. Some of the best for a while actually, i would boldly, and probably stupidly venture.

Titles? Hmmmm... 'Sometimes I Feel I'll Float Away', 'For The Strangers', 'It Starts and Ends With You' amongst others. The proto-proto-proto type version that we were fumbling around with towards the end of last year is very dead so apart from 'Sabotage', don't get attached to any of those songs from Russia cos it's very unlikely anyone will ever hear them again. They were canon-fodder i'm afraid, part of the endlessly shifting and self-questioning process. Every album I've ever made has been brutally hard (that's kind of the point) and this is no exception but you will be intrigued to hear, we have just banked the final curve and are into the home straight. Maybe you'll even hear something new at Hop Farm...and maybe not.

Anyway, I hope that has answered some questions for you and provoked yet more that you want to be answered.

All the love and poison of Notting Hill

Delphic: 'Today's bands are just trying to stay alive'

Delphic
Delphic's Rick Boardman commented on the lack of financial resources in today's music industry stopping great bands from reaching true potential.

"The lack of money in the music industry means that there's no room for bands to experiment and there's no room for bands not play it safe. I find it so difficult to hear great music coming out, because everyone's just trying to stay alive," said Rick Boardman in an recent interview.

The band feel that due to a lack of money in today’s climate there will never be legends such as Blur and The Smiths again, as record labels don’t have the funds and capabilities to allow their bands to grow.

"Will we ever hear another Smiths again? I don't know," Boardman continues. "Will a band like Blur, who had to wait for their third album to get a hit record, ever be allowed space to breath and grow? Probably not."

The Manchester trio are working on their new album and are in no hurry to release putting as much time and effort into it as possible.

Beastie Boys' Adam 'MCA' Yauch Dead at 47

Adam 'MCA' Yauch
(August 5, 1964 – May 4, 2012)
Adam 'MCA' Yauch died at the age of 47, it has been reported.

Yauch revealed he had a cancerous tumour in his left parotid gland in July 2009, and stayed away from the limelight during the release of the band's most recent album 'Hot Sauce Committee, Part Two' last year.

He was a co-founder of the Beastie Boys alongside Mike 'Mike D' Diamond and Adam 'Ad-Rock' Horowitz in 1979, but didn't break through until 1986's 'Licensed to Ill'. Further albums including 'Paul's Boutique' and 'Ill Communication' followed, propelling the band to the very top of their field.

The band were inducted into America's Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame earlier this year, but Yauch was unable to attend due to his health.

Yauch, who is survived by his wife, Dechen Wengdu, and their daughter, Losel, wrote a letter to his bandmates and fans for last month's hall of fame induction: "I'd like to dedicate this to my brothers Adam and Mike," he wrote. "They walked the globe with me. It's also for anyone who has ever been touched by our band. This induction is as much ours as it is yours."

Depeche Mode Confirm New Album And Tour

Depeche Mode
Dave Gahan, Depeche Mode's frontman, talked with Spinner about the group's future plans once he and Martin Gore are done with their side projects and said that their upcoming album is "definitely on track".

"We've probably got 20 songs demoed. Some of the songs are in really good shape, some need some work, but we're definitely on track. We have a deadline of the end of November, and there's no reason we why we won't meet that at the rate we're going". He said.

Ben Hillier and Christoffer Berg are co-producing the new material. Berg has previously worked with The Knife and Fever Ray. "He's a great musician and has a lot of fantastic ideas," said Gahan. "He's not afraid to stand up and say, 'I got an idea.' I like that. It's quite intimidating working with a band like ours because you have certain expectations of how it is. A lot are true and some aren't. Martin and I are open to other people's ideas."

Gahan also says that "There are already plans in place to be touring next year."

BOTM May 2012 - ZULU WINTER

Zulu Winter are a five piece Indie rock band formed in London in 2011. The band consist of Will Daunt, Iain Lock, Dom Millard, Henry Walton and Guy Henderson. Having played together since they were 15, they've overcome all manner of music industry adversity to get to this point. "I've never even considered anything else," Henry admits. "Playing guitar with these guys is all there's been."

Eventually they went with Kaiser Chiefs, Cribs and Crystal Castles manager James Sandom. "The thing we love about James is that he takes a band at face value, and says 'you are what you are and I'm going to make you as successful as you can possibly be'."

They released their first single "Never Leave" on Double Denim Records on 7 November 2011. Their second single "We Should Be Swimming" was released in February 2012 on PIAS.
