New Entry: Underworld Unleash "Threat of Rain" (#Drift, Ep 2, Pt. 3)

Electronic icons Underworld have unleashed their 15-minute sick tune "Threat of Rain", Part 3 of Episode 2, of their #DRIFT series.

Drift is an ongoing experiment that will regularly publish new Underworld material – music, film, stories, etc – via the band’s official website.

This Thursday’s DRIFT release, Threat of Rain builds from a murky locked techno groove and a looped refrain of “I’m good, I’m good… I’m alright” into an orchestra of analogue noise that swells and surges and at times obliterates everything around it, which, with the accompanying film by Tomato’s Simon Taylor and Rick Smith, looks and sounds like a lost recording of a musique concrète symposium being broadcast from the DJ booth of the Omen.

Borneo's guitarist self-titled solo project Harry Glassborow has aired the video for his debut single "Cat Traps".

Self-described as an “analogue yet slightly digitized/sexualised space cowboy from a futuristic past,” Glassborow makes Western-tinged, idiosyncratic indie-pop-rock gems.

About the video, Glassborow says “Making this video was a lot of fun, the air had a devilish winter’s bite to it so nipples were quite visible under jumpers and shirts,” .

It was directed by Tom Pearce. Watch it below.

New Entry: Two Tribes Release Debut Single "Zone"

London synth/psych quartet Two Tribes have released their infectious debut single "Zone".

Talking about the debut offering, the band say: “The inspiration for the song came from watching Andrei Tarkovsky’s film Stalker, in which a group of men are led through an hazardous area called ‘The Zone’, where there supposedly exists a room which grants a person’s innermost desires. I felt like walking through the zone was a good metaphor for someone who persists in leading a destructive lifestyle as a method to finding some fulfilment out of life.”

It will be out tomorrow (February 8)Take a listen below.

Fontaines D.C. Announce Debut LP 'Dogrel', Reveal Video For "Big"

Dublin rock n' roll band Fontaines D.C. have announced the release of their debut full-length album 'Dogrel'.

The 11-track record will be out on April 12th via Partisan Records. The band have also revealed the video for the album's lead single "Big". Pre-order your copy here.

According to a press release, Dogrel signifies “a debut which is best enjoyed as a whole; it is very much in the grand tradition of the album as art form, just as this is a band very much in the classic band mold: great singles, an indefatigable work ethic and an utter aversion to standing still.”

"Dogrel is a crude, traditionally Irish working-class form of verse, historically looked down upon by literary critics", the band explains.

Speaking about the video, they said, "we felt that great ambition was a sickness, and we got Grian's 11 year next-door neighbour to say it to you all because he's got the presence of a hundred frontmen."

Check out the album's tracklist and the video for "Big" below.

Tracklist:
1. Big
2. Sha Sha Sha

Watch: The Coathangers Premiere Music Video For "F the NRA"

Atlanta punk trio The Coathangers have premiered the video for their protest song "F the NRA".

The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from their sixth album 'The Devil You Know', released in March 2018 via Suicide Squeeze. Buy it here.

From guitarist/vocalist Julia Kugel: ""I do not take the freedom of expression that all U.S. citizens are granted lightly. The band was confident that we wanted to put ‘F the NRA’ on the record. It provided a personal catharsis and a sense of empowerment in the wake of the immense feeling of helplessness that was weighing heavily on us as we coped with continuous reports of mass shootings. It was not until those around us started warning us of the repercussions we could face, did we realize the risk involved in yelling at the giant. My ingrained fear of speaking out came back to me. Yet the reason I am a musician is because of a need to express my truth, personal or political. I began to question everything: the rights of an artist, the responsibility of being political, the fear of backlash, and the desire to be heard."

The video was directed by Robbie Pfeffer. Take a look below.
