New Entry: Blue River Share New Single "Lucy"

Cornish indie-pop/rock four piece Blue River have shared their new single "Lucy."

The song has been added to our current playlist and will be out on June 28th via CPR Records/Ditto Music.

The band first formed in 2007 and have created a sound that is rich in flavours that have been taken from old school pioneers such as The Beatles, The Kinks, The Smiths and Oasis, plus modern influencers Arctic Monkeys and Two Door Cinema Club, manifesting into style that mirrors the ever-evolving music scene.

‘Lucy’ was an off the cuff track written in ten minutes in frontman's Perran Nicholls kitchen, inspired by a terrible traveling experience. Perran says ‘After having the worst train journey of my life, a woman who was at the train station ticket hall was very rude, so I put her in the song, and yes she was called Lucy!’.

Taffy Announce New LP 'Deep Dark Creep Love', Stream "She & She"

Japanese indie pop/shoegaze band Taffy have announced the release of their new album titled "Deep Dark Creep Love".

The band's fifth LP and follow up to 2017's  Nyctophilia, will be out on July 5th through Club AC30, according to the press, encapsulates the bands infectious, melodic take on the noise-pop genre, with a greater emphasis on big choruses and backing vocals than their previous work. The material has honed in on that classic Taffy contrast which is musically light but delves into dark places vocally. In tone it feels softer, but effortlessly dips into tracks such as ‘The Bates’, based on Psycho’s infamous lead and his sinister relationship with his mother.

With sensibilities reminiscent of Elastica and The Stone Roses, Taffy have always been inspired by the works of British artists and shown that appreciation by covering them, and on ‘Deep Dark Creep Love’ they decided to continue that tradition by playing homage to one of their favourites; ‘Never Let Me Down’ by David Bowie.

The band have also shared their new single "She & She", which according to lead singer Iris " is a song about being loved very much but you know somewhere in your heart that it could fall apart easily. When you’re good at being loved, whether intentionally or unintentionally, you also know there comes a time that it falls apart. When you stop being the person they imagine you are.”

The song is taken from their upcoming new album 'Let Yourself Be Seen', due for release on May 10th through Bella Union. Pre-order your copy here.

From the band:  “The song is kind of an inner debate between two opposing voices of a conflicted self-conscience over how to cope through these chaotic times. One side balances a process of disengagement, of “letting go” of anger, resentment and fear by detaching oneself from the news cycle, and social media and journeying towards inner peace in a more spiritual way. The other side argues for staying socially and political engaged, staying tuned in and turned on and leaning into the fiery activist energy and fighting this noble fight. Can both sides co-exist? Can you find a balance? Whats healthier? Whats fair?.”

Watch: VR SEX Premiere Music Video For New Single "Sacred Limousine"

Los Angeles synth punk/death rock/post punk outfit VR SEX have premiered the video for their new single "Sacred Limousine".

The song is taken from their upcoming debut album 'Human Traffic Jam', set to be released on May 10 via Dais Records. Pre-order your copy here.

"The video is an observation of two cyber archetypes in the voyeuristic arena of social media: Those that are driven by a subconscious desire to hunt and those that subconsciously desire to be hunted.

The “Sacred Limousine” is essentially my metaphor for how social media has given us the tools to simulate a charmed life, a special brand of feigned grandeur, without really showing what truly lies inside. Conversely, it’s also a vehicle that grants us the space to observe anonymously and act with impunity from behind our screens. Both of these roles are demonstrated and symbolized as the pedestalized faceless lady and the Peeping Tom behind the brush. -Andrew Clinco
