The video was made by Richie of Vinyl Villains. "Richie is a mysterious Bushwick programmer that doesn't leave his loft til the light has disappeared and day has turned to dark. He is part vampire, part design whiz. He has invented an automated animation program that turns songs into aliens, furry creatures, whatever the sound seems to suggest. Obviously, Your 33 Black Angels has a very alien sound, but he might have horses singing to Neil Young, vegan cupcakes singing Fiona Apple, dolphins singing Supergrass, etc. Richie is so ineffable and distant, we don't even know his last name. All we know is he commands legions of aliens, faeries and elves. Literally that's what he does!"

It’s a genre that’s quite embarrassing to go back to, and I knew that would make it really fun. I used to be emo in 2008, and now nobody plays that music anymore! There’s nothing about being kids and nobody understanding you. It felt like time to bring it back.”

Interpol Announce New EP 'A Fine Mess', Stream "The Weekend"

New York indie rock/alt band Interpol have announced they will release their new EP 'A Fine Mess', on May 17th via Matador.

Recorded during time spent in upstate New York with Dave Fridmann, the five songs gradually emerged as a body of work with a narrative and flow unto itself.

The title track received further production from Kaines & Tom A.D. and mixing from Claudius Mittendorfer, who had first worked with Interpol as engineer on Our Love To Admire. The resulting set is a living, breathing postcard from the band to their fans as they tour the world throughout 2019, and a linear continuation of the visceral and contagious energy set loose with Marauder.

From the beguiling refrain of the title track, to the soulful topsy-turvy of ‘No Big Deal’, cathartic chorus of long sought-after live favourite ‘Real Life’, anthemic swell of ‘The Weekend’, and angular shades of ‘Thrones’, A Fine Mess is a bracing and distinct entry in Interpol’s oeuvre.

Pre-order the EP here, check out he tracklist and listen to new single 'The Weekend', below.

Tracklist:
01. Fine Mess
02. No Big Deal
03. Real Life

Cold Showers Announce New LP 'Motionless', Air New Single/Video "Faith"

Los Angeles based post-punk/no-wave/electro band Cold Showers have announced the release of their third full-length album 'Motionless'.

The follow-up to 2015's Matter of Choicewill be out on May 24 through Dais Records, and is "a process-based album that reaches into the band’s collective quiver, melding their familiar anthem infused post-punk and lush, grand pop influences."

Motionless is Cold Showers looking inward and taking control of their creative process, while retaining all of their unique songwriting signatures. Recorded in their own studio in Los Angeles with band member Chris King at the production helm, each selection on Motionless sounds like a line drawing that quickly becomes a technicolor collage of crashing shoegazed reverberation.

With an overarching narrative of quiet control, Motionless allows Cold Showers to highlight their writing strengths with liquid ideation. No matter what situation the band finds themselves in, every song is given an individualized treatment while building a larger story. Featuring exclusive artwork by noted Los Angeles based artist Robbie Simon.

The band have also aired the video for the album's lead single "Faith", a song that stands on their own as heavy-hearted melodies that have an almost “classic” impression after only one listen.

Second Still Announce New LP 'Violet Phase', Stream "New Violet"

Los Angeles post punk/cold wave band Second Still have announced the release of their new album titled 'Violet Phase'.

The follow-up to their 2017's eponymous debut LP, was written in the winter of 2018-19 in Joshua Tree and Idyllwild, California, and  will be out May 17 on Fabrika Records and sentimental Records .

While the songs from this newest release retain the power and intensity of the band’s previous three releases, Violet Phase sees Second Still evolving their sound and progressing forward into uncharted sonic territory. The synthesizer moves to the forefront, creating pulsating bass patterns, atmospheric ambient soundscapes, and captivating lead hooks. Elements like saxophone, violin, and choice samples underscore the more experimental approach to songwriting for Violet Phase. By combining these new elements, and blending them together with their post-punk and coldwave foundation, Second Still casts conventional genres aside to create an entirely new and original imprint.

They have also shared their new single "New Violet", which is "about dedication despite ingratitude and failure," and "it was inspired by a family member practitioner of Korea’s Moon religion."

From the band:  “Dorian Corey was at the heart of the NYC ballroom / vogue scene in the early 80s. She was a role-model and matriarchal figure for a lot of queer POC youth. When she passed away, due to AIDS, they discovered a mummified body in her closet dating back to 15 years ago. The body was of an ex-con who was believed to be a controlling and abusive ex-lover, and she carried the body around with her from apartment to apartment over all those years.”

“We wanted to tell a much softer and gentler story about a drag queen. One where drag culture has become fully normalised and accepted by society. Where people can feel safe and empowered leaving the house in the middle of the afternoon in drag and carrying out normal day-to-day tasks. Removing the idea around drag culture being exclusively for the night, and carried out in ballrooms, and clubs.”

Sacred Paws Announce New LP 'Run Around The Sun', Air "The Conversation" Video

Glasgow//London indie pop/punk duo Sacred Paws (Rachel Aggs and Eilidh Rodgers) have announced the release of their sophomore album titled 'Run Around The Sun'.

The follow-up to 2017's Strike A Match, will be out May 31st on Rock Action Records and Merge Records, and brims with upbeat reflections on growing up and looking back. Shimmering guitar riffs dance between snappy beats and swooning melodies that will have crowds committing to far more than a simple head-bob. “I think we’d get bored if it was too slow,” Eilidh says. “We’d never want to play something live that people couldn’t dance to. It would feel really strange to us. It’s kind of the whole point.”

The duo have also aired the album's opening track "The Conversation", beginning with a scream of guitar, it includes all the hallmarks of a classic Sacred Paws song—where intricate guitar work and complex drumming collide with pop smarts and the dual vocals of Rachel Aggs and Eilidh Rodgers. The track was written about a long-forgotten argument between friends, composed in the band’s traditional unplanned approach, each member’s thoughts and feelings slaloming through the other’s. “You’re all wrong, you’re walking away / Why would we even try to have this conversation?” the song asks before resolving to move on: “I’m running, I’m hiding out, resisting / I’m keeping this to myself….” The argument that inspired it is long forgotten but the feelings remain.

Watch: WOOZE Unveil "I'll Have What She's Having" Music Video

British/Korean indie pop/alt duo WOOZE have unveiled the video for their newest single "I'll Have What She's Having".

The song is part of our current playlist and is taken from the upcoming new EP ’What’s on Your Mind?’, due to be released on May 3rd through Young Poet Records

Speaking about it, Theo Spark and Jamie She said: "This song is about the grass being greener on the other side from the perspective of someone standing on a circle. We're both really fascinated by different societal expectations and cultural standards of success and how something that's actually so intimate and subjective, ie. one's own success and self worth, is dictated by the masses.

There is no right or wrong way in our opinion. At the same time there's this massive spectrum between something like the hikikomori phenomenon in Japan and someone like Kendall Jenner and Fyre festival - this song is us perching ourselves on the fence and observing the pendulum swinging to and fro."
