Breathers Announce Reveal Details of Debut LP 'Designed To Break'

Atlanta based experimental pop/synth pop threesome Breathers have revealed full details of their highly anticipated debut album 'Designed To Break'.

The 11-track album will be out on September 12 through Irrelevant Music, and features their previously shared songs "1-800-PAIN" and "Only Operator". Pre-order your copy here.

According to the press release, each song on the album, is a refreshingly honest dive into the modern human psyche balanced with vibrant synth lines that capture the imagination and drip like dew into our parched subconscious.

Over the past few years, Breathers have laid the groundwork for Designed to Break with a series of insightful tracks featuring T. Lee Gunselman and Jake Thomson on synths and vocals, with Mike Netland providing live drums and sequencing. The result is a danceable mix of organic and synthetic sounds that warp traditional song structures into something subversive yet enticing.

Throughout this album, lead singer and lyricist Gunselman offers thoughtful observations on isolation and anxiety, focusing on the corresponding weaknesses and strengths of the human spirit, and the importance of listening to oneself apart from the cacophony of an increasingly commercialized world. Each topic is couched in a comforting sensitivity which plays off the spacious chords and delicate melodies of Designed to Break.

They sounded massive, with chaotic bursts of feedback, thumping overdriven bass, glitched out drums, and surprisingly pretty harmonies. With the video for "Look Me In The Eye", I wanted to use abstract animation to approximate that sound, visually. Experimental animator Robert Breer described the effect of watching his films as “assault and battery on the retina”. That became my guiding principle.

The Chad Copelin-produced album will be released on 12 October 2018 via Park The Van Records. Pre-order your copy here.

The band have also shared a new double single and video “Sandman” and “Boys Got To Go”, directed by Pooneh Ghana, who explains that it: “follows a man’s journey of self-realization as he breaks down and breaks through his own wall. He slowly finds the strength to start over and face life with a new outlook and clarity. He truly embraces life again.”

According to the press release, Bad Behavior reveals BRONCHO’s fly-on-the-crumbling-wall vision of our moral climate, complete with a reenergized, accessible sound and the charmingly sardonic, smiling-while-sneering delivery of singer and bandleader Ryan Lindsey. “It’s a reflection of the current world: everybody’s been acting badly over the last few years so we made a record about it,” Lindsey says. “There are multiple ways of portraying something as ‘bad,’ and there are moments of self-reflection throughout the record as though we could be talking about ourselves—but not necessarily. It’s observational, like we’re looking through muddy binoculars from a distance. It’s a blurry mirror image of the times from where we sit.”.

The KVB Reveal Details of New Album 'Only Now Forever'

UK psychedelic/shoegaze/dark wave duo The KVB have revealed full details of their upcoming sixth studio album 'Only Now Forever', which will be out on 12th October via Invada Records UK.

Whilst holding evident inspiration from previous times, the sound this London-founded duo present is progressive and distinctly new in every sense. Idyllic at times; gritty in others, each bar is as enchanting as the last, leaving you in a melancholic trance.
