Speaking about the track, guitarist/vocalist Neil Bednis told COS: “The song is about the rising cost of living in major cities. When I was writing I was thinking about what will happen to Toronto when it becomes too expensive for artists and young people to live there. If you look at Manhattan, where there was once this vibrant scene that’s virtually non-existent when it comes to underground music culture. The community who drew people to move to these places are the ones that the city pushes out.”

The song is part of our current playlist and came out last month. Grab it here.

ABout the clip, directed by Philippe Blaine, the band explained: "It's a video with political meaning, but also rather fun. The concept focuses on the gentrification of parts of London, with the rich feeding off the poor until there's nothing left – developers with their swanky flats and so-called affordable housing making our capital the home for the few that can afford it. There's also a good measure of humour in there, with the likes of Theresa May and Farage caged for their crimes against humanity."and has  a political meaning, but it's also funny.

New Entry: Destroyer Reveals New Song "Cover From The Sun"

Canadian singer/songwriter Dan Bejar aka Destroyer has revealed his catchy new song “Cover From The Sun”.

The song is taken from the band's forthcoming album 'ken', sert to arrive next Friday (October 20) via Merge. Pre-order it here.

Ken's title was inspired by the Suede single "The Wild Ones" (from 1994's Dog Man Star). Bejar had this to say about the album, and the Suede connection, in a previous press release: "Sometime last year, I discovered that the original name for 'The Wild Ones' (one of the great English-language ballads of the last 100 years or so) was 'Ken.' I had an epiphany, I was physically struck by this information. In an attempt to hold on to this feeling, I decided to lift the original title of that song and use it for my own purposes. It's unclear to me what that purpose is, or what the connection is. I was not thinking about Suede when making this record. I was thinking about the last few years of the Thatcher era. Those were the years when music first really came at me like a sickness, I had it bad. Maybe 'The Wild Ones' speaks to that feeling, probably why Suede made no sense in America. I think 'ken' also means 'to know.'"

About the track the band posted: "Happy Hour" like many cool weezer songs has a sad message wrapped in a sunny package. Sort of a companion piece to “Island In The Sun” from 2001, but instead of being a pure fantasy about an escape, the guy in ‘Happy Hour’ is chained to reality, looking around for a break from the routine. It’s not hard to relate, but unlike that guy, fortunately we have new weezer music to listen to!

Gengahr Detail New LP 'Where Wildness Grows', Stream New Single "Mallory"

London indie rock/psych-pop four-piece Gengahr have announced full details of their second album titled 'Where Wildness Grows'.

The follow-up to 2015’s debut ‘A Dream Outside’, will be out on 9th March via Transgressive Records. We've already heard the record's first single "Carrion", now the band have shared the second single called "Mallory".

In a press release Felix Bushe said “The journey has been far from straight-forward up until now and in many ways we are an altogether different band than the one that wrote A Dream Outside. Over the past two years we have given everything in order to create an album that would meet all our ambitions, fulfilling our vision of what Gengahr is now. It’s been grueling at times, but like a caterpillar entering metamorphosis you know the moment of darkness will be outshone by the transformation. There were certainly times along the way when frustrations grew and it seemed as if our vision for the album would shatter entirely.

“We spent almost 3 months recording a version of the album that would eventually end up making us feel a little uncomfortable in our own skin. Having to reset, take stock and go at it again wasn’t easy, but we were confident in the songs we had. That is always the most important thing as an artist, above anything else. We are incredibly proud of the record we have made and beyond excited to release it into the world for others to enjoy. “

Pre-order the album here, check out the tracklist and listen to "Mallory" below.

Tracklist:
01. Before Sunrise
02. Mallory
03. Is This How You Love

06. Blind Truth
07. Carrion
08. Burning Air
09. Left In Space
10. Pull Over (Now)
